Families of patterns

Here we introduce the principle of families of patterns in the foprop pattern language.

Families of patterns occupy a location within A container aka a weave.

At an initial stage we can anticipate that forty-or-so pattern families might hold sufficient scope for a pattern language of activist life, making a living economy. These are spread more or less evenly across four zones of reach and across three landscapes of practice.

Pattern families across four zones of reach and three landscapes of practice

That's a lot of patterns! Even at the level of families, never mind at more fine-grained levels of attention. So, by way of botstrapping, some tactical selection might be adopted, to begin exploring both what such a pattern approach - the foprop weave - might potentially achieve, and what the composition of the family mix might appropriately be. See: Tactical selection of issues

# Narrative frame and pattern repository This tactical selection gives us fewer-than-forty patterns to deal with initially: the family-patterns of the tactically highlighted families.

We deal with this initial subset at two levels: - Narrative frame - Making a living economy - A section of the present wiki. Aims for narrative flow and overview. - Pattern repository - A separate wiki. Where the detail is.

Here we present a dynamic walk-through the families within the foprop frame, aiming for a sense of texture and overall form, a sense of richness and scope; a sense of different but mutually animating perspectives and interweaving implications: invoking a rich space for activist living and working and evolving.

This is a repository of patterns in the foprop pattern language. At this stage we work only at the level of pattern families and narrative frame. Evolving the language and a full pattern reperetoire calls for time and diverse community.
